Re: Are you a Blood donor?
WHOic - injections and having a small blood sample taken don't adversely affect me, but donating blood (nearly a pint, apparently) makes me go wobbly for a minute or so. Naturally, i don't actually faint because I am a WARRIOR, but the world goes a bit black at the edges and dizzifying and I have to chug water before getting up again. I was told it's because I have low blood pressure.

Re: Are you a Blood donor?
I'm the exact same whoicidal, don't mind injections but the idea of a needle in my vein taking blood make me go all queer.

Re: Are you a Blood donor?
I dont mind needles and injections and Im not squeamish but having blood taken makes me pass out. The Doc says its all in my mind and that there is no reason that it should happen...I think hes a fucking liar.

..Any one else get this?

Re: Are you a Blood donor?
To suggest Zod has blood is to introduce the notion it could be spilled.

Brave of you.

MrCrowmanSir 9:40 Wed Aug 19
Re: Are you a Blood donor?
I'm not a donor, but I share the same rare blood group as General Zod, so my blood is priceless and can't be given away willy nilly.

Re: Are you a Blood donor?
These situations rarely result in happy anecdotes. I'm sorry to hear it. Yes, a passenger flight would have been cheaper in our case too I guess, but not as quickly expedited.

Re: Are you a Blood donor?
Fivey, even if I could have found a medical courier, it would have worked out much cheaper to just fly out there, which is what I did instead. All came to nought. I wasn't a match for her, unfortunately.

Re: Are you a Blood donor?
Nurse - only mentioned the courier as I sent a pint to Belgium once (long story). The container had to be rented and was ridiculosly expensive and tied a delivery service. All then had to be picked up and sent with a bike courier service. It was stressful, certainly, and pricey. Needs must :(

I donate as well :-)

Re: Are you a Blood donor?
I started donating after my Dad died of a blood cancer. I figured we owed them a few pints after his treatments.

Can I have some of your blood, bruu?

Blood, no..

Re: Are you a Blood donor?
Yes I am.

Honestly think that it should be an opt-out system where unless you genuinely medically can't do it, then you should have to pay for any nhs treatment involving blood transfusions.

Same with organ donations.

No one has ever (EVER) provided a half decent counter argument to this proposal which doesn't involve human rights or religion or some other load of leftie bollocks.

Coming up to my 40th donation next year and I never look at the needle either , always book your appointment in advance as it does speed things along .

Most of us Anglo Saxons are O Neg. it's a common miss conception that rare blood types are needed more in fact it's opposite. That's what the Doris told me down there last time anyway

Troy McClure 5:33 Wed Aug 19
Re: Are you a Blood donor?
It's usually just off a pint you donate and yeah I'm only ever in there around half an hour.

My old man is in his 80s now so isn't allowed to any more which is a shame cos he's fit as a fiddle still. Dagenham boy - Tough In the arm thick in the head

Usually takes about 45 minutes tops - from arriving, going through the form, having it done, recovery and free drink/biscuits/crisps after.

I've done it 7 times and I've never once seen the needle. Just don't look!

Don't hurt at all.

I was told in 1997 that I was given the blood of someone who passed from new variant CJD

Mooooooooooooooooooooo

Nurse Ratched 4:58 Wed Aug 19
Re: Are you a Blood donor?
...which is fair enough, when you consider the hundreds of thousands of Britons who have contracted and/or died of CJD.
